CodeDay is a non-profit organization that provides students who want to learn Code rich and diverse learning and practical opportunities to explore the future of technology and other fields. Now, more than 50,000 students have built a number of high-profile projects at CodeDay events. As the founder of the nonprofit, Tyler Menezes runs it like a startup. This Friday night, Tyler Menezes, will introduce the history of CodeDay.

Prior to this, Tyler Menezes also had a very memorable entrepreneurial experience. He dropped out of college to start a startup and quickly raised millions of dollars from Y Combinator Ventures. However, in the end, due to many mistakes made in the entrepreneurial journey, the startup company eventually failed. In this sharing, Tyler Menezes will also summarize his personal experience and talk about the most common mistakes in the process of starting a business. He will share how he learned from the experience of startup failure, applied to CodeDay and helped Codeday to succeed.

Executive Director of CodeDay. Tyler was born in Canada. He studied at the University of Washington, dropped out to start a social video startup, and received a million-dollar venture capital from Y Combinator. He has also worked as a programmer at several startups and in machine learning research at Microsoft. Since 2014, Tyler has been in demand for digitally driven solutions that increase CS diversity and enrollment.

In his spare time, Tyler helps run programs in Garfield High School's CS program and organizes the public speaking event "Ignite Seattle".
